We all have mixed feelings about social media. Sure, it develops a narcissistic personality disorder. Sure, the likelihood of loving ourselves more than Kanye loves himself is pretty high. But on the other hand, it’s a fantastic tool for discovering upcoming designers. I came across Vanessa Klat while scrolling through my Instagram explore tab.
Born and raised in Paris, she worked several years in the luxury industry (Interparfums and Georges Hobeika, to name but a few) before moving to Beirut where she launched her eponymous bag brand, last November.
The story began when she had her baby boy. In Lebanon, moms give presents to celebrate their child’s birth, and Vanessa had the idea of creating pouches. She ultimately took the plunge and came out with a proper handbag-line.
What I instantly liked about the brand is its simple, yet classy DNA. Her collection is based on two designs: The V Bag (rectangular-shaped), and the Mini V (square-shaped). Mostly in leather, you have the option of pimping your bag. The handle, the buckle, the studs and the material can be changed according to your taste.
If you ever wondered what the “effortless chic Parisian style” looks like, check out her fashion line. No surprise French actress Emmanuelle Béart already ordered 2 V’s.
